With a membrane that either is the walking surface or sits protected under it. SealForce RC40 polyurea stays exposed, walkable and UV-stable; SealForce WB20 goes under a new screed and tiles. Either way the falls, outlet and door threshold are checked first, because standing water finds every weak detail.
Only if they are sound and the membrane under them is the problem at a detail the applicator can reach, which is rare. Usually the lasting repair means lifting the tiles and starting from the screed.
Hollow or cracked tiles, or grout that stays dark long after rain, usually mean water is already under them. The applicator taps the tiles and checks the ceiling below before deciding.
The threshold is the lowest, least-detailed point: falls that run towards the door, a membrane that stops short of the frame, or a sill set too low let rain in under the door.

Yes. SealForce RC40 is walkable and UV-stable, so the porch roof can be finished as an exposed terrace without tiles.
The falls and the outlet are corrected first so rain drains away, and the edges and upstands are reinforced before the membrane goes on. It is a terrace to walk on, not a deck to park on.
An exposed RC40 membrane is one job, and it is the finished surface. Tiles over WB20 need a new screed as well, so the job is larger, but you get a tiled finish. Either is flood-tested or rain-checked before handover.
Porch roofs and terraces that are mostly walked on suit the exposed membrane; balconies that are part of the living space often suit tiles. The applicator recommends one at the inspection.
