Data centre floors in Johor and across Malaysia, specified by the maker

Data centre flooring in Johor and Malaysia: StaticGuard CX90 ESD epoxy, SL120 for plant rooms and bays, RC40 cool roofs, by Rayson-authorised applicators.

We reply within one working day, Monday to Friday.

Rayson-authorised applicators in Johor, Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, and Penang. Materials and data sheets nationwide.

What flooring does a data centre need?

Different floors for different rooms: conductive epoxy such as Rayson StaticGuard CX90, earthed and tested, in the ESD-protected rooms around the data hall; self-levelling LevelShield SL120 in loading bays and plant rooms outside the ESD programme; a textured deck system in car parks; a reflective membrane on roofs.

Before you choose

Which rooms need an ESD floor?

The rooms the facility’s ESD programme names, usually those around the data hall: electrical and switch rooms, UPS and battery rooms, staging and build rooms, and the loading areas where servers leave their packaging. StaticGuard CX90 is conductive through its whole body, 10⁴ to 10⁶ ohms on average, so the static path does not wear away with the surface.

The ESD targets come from the facility’s own programme, often written to IEC 61340-5-1 or ANSI/ESD S20.20; the floor is specified and tested against them.

Why does the earthing matter?

A conductive floor is useless without a path to ground. CX90 is laid over planned earthing points, its thickness kept within 1.0 to 1.5 mm because a thicker floor conducts less, and its resistance measured after cure and recorded for the facility.

The earthing layout is agreed with the M&E engineer before the floor goes down; the data sheet keeps heavy traffic off for 72 hours and allows about seven days for full cure before testing.

What about the plant rooms and loading bays?

Where the ESD programme does not reach them, they take the weight instead: generators, chillers, pallet trucks and deliveries. LevelShield SL120 self-levelling epoxy, which lists plant rooms, loading bays and storage areas, gives them a seamless, hard-wearing floor with medium to heavy chemical resistance.

Where the programme does include them, they take CX90 like the other ESD rooms. Car parks take the FloorGuard R50 broadcast system, and the roofs SealForce RC40, a polyurea membrane with certified cool-roof reflectance.

Can Rayson support the consultant’s material approval?

Yes. Rayson supplies the published data sheets, the build-up for each room and the application guidance for the consultant’s and main contractor’s submissions, and the Rayson-authorised applicator quotes and installs, contracting with the main contractor or the owner.

Rayson makes the materials and warrants them; the applicator warrants its workmanship. Both are named in the submission, so the consultant knows who answers for what.

A first guide. The specification follows the facility’s ESD programme and the consultant’s requirements.

What you see

The signs

  • A new build with floors still to be specified room by room
  • ESD readings drifting out of the facility’s range
  • Dusting or worn floors in plant rooms and loading bays
  • A roof that must stay watertight and reflect the sun
Why it happens

The usual causes

  • One floor specified for rooms with different duties
  • ESD floors laid too thick, or without planned earthing points
  • Bare or thinly painted concrete in heavy-traffic rooms
How the job runs

From three photos to a finished job

  1. Review the drawings and the site

Room by room: the duty, the ESD targets, the slab condition and the programme.

  2. Specification from the maker

Systems, builds, earthing details and data sheets for each room, ready for material approval.

  3. Install

Grinding and repairs, primers, then each system at the data-sheet build, with CX90 laid over the earthing points.

  4. Test and hand over

ESD resistance measured after cure and recorded; data sheets and test records in the handover file.

What to send

Three photos are enough for a first quotation

  1. The drawings or a floor plan, with the rooms marked
  2. The site or the slab today, wide
  3. Areas in sq ft per room, the ESD targets, and the programme

What it costs

What does data centre flooring cost in Malaysia?

Per square foot, quoted room by room after a review of the drawings and the site. Five things decide it: the area of each room, the system for each, the ESD testing and earthing details, the state of the slab, and the construction programme the main contractor sets. Rayson publishes no price list; contractors with their own crews can buy the systems direct.

Who stands behind the job

  • Rayson makes the materials, writes the specification and warrants the material.
  • The Rayson-authorised applicator for your area an independent company authorised by Rayson, contracts with you, inspects, quotes, installs and warrants the workmanship.
  • Rayson is not the installer and is not a party to the installation contract. Two warranties, two companies.

The Rayson difference

An installer buys whatever is on the shelf. A Rayson-authorised applicator installs what Rayson makes.

01

The maker writes the specification

The system is specified by the company that makes the material, and installed by an independent applicator Rayson has authorised, not chosen from whatever a supplier had on the shelf that week.

02

A data sheet for every layer

Every Rayson material on your floor or roof has a published technical data sheet. You can read what went in, and so can your consultant.

03

Two warranties, two companies

Rayson warrants the material as its maker. The authorised applicator, an independent company that contracts with you, warrants the workmanship. Each warranty is issued by the company responsible for it.

04

Same materials on both sides of the Causeway

The products, data sheets and application methods are the ones Rayson publishes in Singapore. Nothing is rebadged for Malaysia.

05

Materials direct, for your own crew

Contractors and facility teams buy the same materials direct from the maker, with application guidance. The applicator is there when you want the job done for you.

Questions people ask

Does CX90 go in the data hall itself?

Usually not. A data hall with a raised access floor carries its static path through the raised floor, and the slab beneath is sealed, conductive where the design asks for it. CX90 is for the ESD rooms built on the slab around the hall; the specification sets out which rooms get which.

Do you work on data centres outside Johor?

Yes. Rayson-authorised applicators work in Johor, Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, and Penang; materials and data sheets are supplied nationwide for contractors with their own crews.

Who gives the warranty?

Rayson warrants the materials as their maker; the Rayson-authorised applicator that lays the floor warrants its workmanship. Both are written into the quotation.
