What is the best floor for a warehouse?

For forklift aisles and loading bays, a self-levelling epoxy: Rayson specifies LevelShield SL120 over PrimeBond E20 on a ground slab. Racking and storage zones under lighter wear can take FloorGuard R50 roller coats, which seal the dust at lower cost.

Before you choose

Self-levelling or roller-applied for a warehouse?

Self-levelling LevelShield SL120 where forklifts run all day and pallets drop: aisles, loading bays and staging areas. Roller-applied FloorGuard R50 where the wear is normal to medium-heavy: racking zones, storage halls and packing. Many warehouses use both, split by zone.

SL120’s data sheet lists warehouses, storage areas and loading bays, and areas under mechanical loading and abrasion; R50’s lists warehouses, assembly areas and ramps under normal to medium-heavy wear.

Can the floor be done with the racking in place?

Yes, in sections: aisles are coated while stock is moved bay by bay, and the floor around the racking feet is detailed. Coating before the racking goes in is quicker and gives a cleaner finish, so a new warehouse should plan the floor first.

The programme is agreed before work starts: which aisles close when, where stock goes in the meantime, and when forklifts can return.

How long before forklifts can run?

LevelShield SL120 takes foot traffic after about 18 hours and light traffic after two days at 30 °C, with full cure in five days; at 20 °C it needs 24 hours, four days and seven days. Forklifts wait for the cure the specification sets.

The sections are planned around those times, so part of the warehouse is always working.

What about dust, joints and cracks?

Dust comes from bare or worn concrete, and a sealed floor stops it at the source. Joints and cracks are repaired before the coating, and the joints detailed so forklift wheels do not break their edges.

The survey maps the joints, cracks and worn patches, and the quotation names the repairs, because they drive the cost on an old floor.

A first guide. The specification confirms the system for your traffic, loads and chemicals.

What you see

The signs

  • Dust settling on stock and racking
  • Joint edges breaking up under forklift wheels
  • Worn tracks along the busiest aisles
  • Old coating peeling at the loading bays
Why it happens

The usual causes

  • Bare concrete that was never sealed
  • A thin coating where the traffic needed a self-levelling build
  • Joints and cracks left open under the coating
How the job runs

From three photos to a finished job

  1. Survey the slab and the traffic

Moisture and bond tests, a joint and crack map, and what runs and drops on the floor.

  2. Specification from the maker

System by zone, preparation, repairs and the data sheets, in writing, with the programme in sections.

  3. Grind, repair, lay

Diamond grinding, joint and crack repair, PrimeBond E20, then SL120 or R50 at the data-sheet build.

  4. Cure and hand over

Forklifts back when the specification allows; data sheets and records in the handover file.

What to send

Three photos are enough for a first quotation

  1. The floor, wide, down an aisle
  2. The worst patch and a joint or loading bay, close
  3. Area in sq ft, the forklifts and loads, and when sections can close

What it costs

What does warehouse epoxy flooring cost in Malaysia?

Per square foot, quoted after a slab survey. Five things decide it: the area, the state of the slab (grinding, joints, cracks and moisture), the system and build for the traffic, how much stock and racking has to move, and the section programme around your operation. Preparation drives the cost on an old floor. Rayson publishes no price list; contractors with their own crews can buy the systems direct.

Who stands behind the job

  • The Rayson-authorised applicator for your area an independent company authorised by Rayson, contracts with you, inspects, quotes, installs and warrants the workmanship.
  • Rayson is not the installer and is not a party to the installation contract. Two warranties, two companies.

The Rayson difference

An installer buys whatever is on the shelf. A Rayson-authorised applicator installs what Rayson makes.

01

The maker writes the specification

The system is specified by the company that makes the material, and installed by an independent applicator Rayson has authorised, not chosen from whatever a supplier had on the shelf that week.

02

A data sheet for every layer

Every Rayson material on your floor or roof has a published technical data sheet. You can read what went in, and so can your consultant.

03

Two warranties, two companies

Rayson warrants the material as its maker. The authorised applicator, an independent company that contracts with you, warrants the workmanship. Each warranty is issued by the company responsible for it.

04

Same materials on both sides of the Causeway

The products, data sheets and application methods are the ones Rayson publishes in Singapore. Nothing is rebadged for Malaysia.

05

Materials direct, for your own crew

Contractors and facility teams buy the same materials direct from the maker, with application guidance. The applicator is there when you want the job done for you.
