Workshop and showroom floors in Malaysia, specified by the maker

Workshop and showroom epoxy flooring in Malaysia: FloorGuard R50 for service and wash bays, UraForce WB58 for showrooms, by Rayson-authorised applicators.

We reply within one working day, Monday to Friday.

What is the best floor for a car workshop?

A primed epoxy floor built for vehicles: Rayson specifies FloorGuard R50 over PrimeBond E20, a solvent-free epoxy whose data sheet lists vehicle workshops, garages and ramps, broadcast with aggregate in wash bays. Showrooms take R50 in colour under a non-yellowing UraForce WB58 topcoat.

Before you choose

Why do workshop floors peel?

Mostly because of oil in the concrete. A workshop slab soaks up oil and grease over the years, and a coating laid over it without deep cleaning and grinding lets go. The rest comes from paint used where a floor system was needed.

The survey checks how deep the oil goes; badly soaked patches are cut back and repaired before the primer goes on.

Which finish for the wash bay?

Textured: FloorGuard R50 broadcast with aggregate and sealed with a further coat, the slip-resistant system its data sheet sets out for ramps and wet zones. A smooth gloss floor in a wash bay is slippery the moment it is wet.

The falls to the drains are checked at the survey, because a coating follows the slab and cannot move the water by itself.

What makes a showroom floor different?

Colour and light. Epoxy yellows in sunlight, so a showroom with glass frontage takes FloorGuard R50 in your colour under UraForce WB58, a water-based polyurethane topcoat listed for non-yellowing, abrasion-resistant finishes in commercial interiors.

The colour is chosen on a sample, and the same finish can run into the service reception so the brand looks the same throughout. For a feature floor, an IFS finish such as Metallic Epoxy or polished concrete overlay goes over Rayson primer instead: an IFS product under IFS’s own terms, chosen on a sample board.

Can the workshop keep running?

Yes, in sections: bays are closed in turn and the floor laid around the lifts and pits. R50 has a pot life of up to 30 minutes at 30 °C and seven days to final cure; each bay returns to service when the specification allows.

Lift baseplates, pits and drainage channels are detailed in the quotation, so the bays go back into use without loose edges.

A first guide. The specification confirms the system for your vehicles and traffic.

What you see

The signs

  • Coating peeling where cars stand and jacks go down
  • Oil stains soaked into bare concrete
  • A wash bay that is slippery when wet
  • A showroom floor turning yellow near the windows
Why it happens

The usual causes

  • Oil left in the slab under the coating
  • Paint used where a floor system was needed
  • Epoxy left without a UV-stable topcoat where sunlight falls
How the job runs

From three photos to a finished job

  1. Survey the floor and the use

Moisture, bond and oil checks, the lifts, pits and drains, and how the bays are used.

  2. Specification from the maker

System by zone, colour, details and the data sheets, in writing, with the programme bay by bay.

  3. Clean, grind, lay

Degreasing, grinding and repairs, PrimeBond E20, then R50 or SL120, with WB58 in the showroom.

  4. Cure and hand over

Bays back in service when the specification allows; data sheets in your file.

What to send

Three photos are enough for a first quotation

  1. The workshop or showroom floor, wide
  2. The worst patch and a lift or drain, close
  3. Area in sq ft, the vehicles (cars, lorries, motorcycles), and when bays can close

What it costs

What does workshop and showroom flooring cost in Malaysia?

Per square foot, quoted after a survey. Five things decide it: the area, how much oil is in the slab and how much grinding and repair it needs, the system by zone, the details around lifts, pits and drains, and the bay-by-bay programme. Rayson publishes no price list; contractors with their own crews can buy the systems direct.

Who stands behind the job

  • Rayson makes the materials, writes the specification and warrants the material.
  • The Rayson-authorised applicator for your area an independent company authorised by Rayson, contracts with you, inspects, quotes, installs and warrants the workmanship.
  • Rayson is not the installer and is not a party to the installation contract. Two warranties, two companies.

The Rayson difference

An installer buys whatever is on the shelf. A Rayson-authorised applicator installs what Rayson makes.

01

The maker writes the specification

The system is specified by the company that makes the material, and installed by an independent applicator Rayson has authorised, not chosen from whatever a supplier had on the shelf that week.

02

A data sheet for every layer

Every Rayson material on your floor or roof has a published technical data sheet. You can read what went in, and so can your consultant.

03

Two warranties, two companies

Rayson warrants the material as its maker. The authorised applicator, an independent company that contracts with you, warrants the workmanship. Each warranty is issued by the company responsible for it.

04

Same materials on both sides of the Causeway

The products, data sheets and application methods are the ones Rayson publishes in Singapore. Nothing is rebadged for Malaysia.

05

Materials direct, for your own crew

Contractors and facility teams buy the same materials direct from the maker, with application guidance. The applicator is there when you want the job done for you.

The practical details

Questions people ask

Can you coat over our old workshop floor?

Over a sound, well-bonded coating, after degreasing, grinding and a bond test, yes. Where the old coating is peeling or soaked with oil, it is ground off first, because the new floor is only as good as what it sticks to.

Can it take lorries and heavy vehicles?

Heavy-duty bays are specified apart, usually with LevelShield SL120 self-levelling epoxy; the survey sets the system against your vehicles and loads.

Who gives the warranty?

Rayson warrants the materials as their maker; the Rayson-authorised applicator that lays the floor warrants its workmanship. Both are written into the quotation.
