Toilet and bathroom waterproofing in Johor Bahru, done once

Toilet waterproofing in Johor Bahru, done once: tiles off, Rayson SealForce WB20 under new tiles, a 24-hour flood test, by an authorised applicator.

We reply within one working day, Monday to Friday.

Also in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, and Penang, through authorised applicators there.

What is toilet waterproofing?

Toilet waterproofing is a membrane under the floor tiles, turned up the walls, that stops shower water reaching the slab and the ceiling below. The Rayson-authorised applicator lays SealForce WB20 in two coats and flood-tests it for 24 hours before the tiles go back.

Before you choose

Can a leaking toilet be fixed without hacking the tiles?

A surface sealant over tiles is a temporary measure, not waterproofing: water still reaches the screed through the grout. The lasting repair puts the membrane under new tiles.

Grout sealers, clear coats and injection can slow a leak for a while, but none of them rebuilds a membrane that has failed or was never there. That is why the quotation strips the floor to a sound screed first.

What is a flood test?

After the membrane has cured, the floor trap is plugged and the floor is filled with water for 24 hours while the ceiling below is checked. The tiler starts only if that ceiling stays dry, so a missed detail is found before the tiles hide it.

The floor trap, the floor-to-wall junction and every pipe through the floor are where most toilet leaks start, so they are reinforced before the membrane goes down.

Can I have an epoxy flake finish in my bathroom?

Yes, as the finish over the waterproofing, not instead of it. IFS Epoxy Flake Lining goes on bathroom walls and floors, but it is not a waterproofing membrane, so the waterproofing under the floor is checked first.

Where it is needed, SealForce WB20 goes in first and the applicator confirms the combined build-up on a sample board. The metallic and flake epoxy page shows the finish.

What is RW1 for?

SealForce RW1 is a latex additive mixed into the screed, render and tile adhesive so the cement layers themselves resist water and bond better. It works with the membrane, not instead of it.

With WB20 under the tiles and RW1 in the cement layers around it, the floor resists water at more than one layer instead of relying on one thin line.

What you see

The signs

  • A damp patch or drip on the ceiling under a toilet or bathroom, worse after showers
  • Tiles that sound hollow or grout that stays dark
  • A musty smell or mould in the room below
  • Water weeping through the wall behind the shower
Why it happens

The usual causes

  • No membrane under the tiles, or one that failed at the floor trap
  • The floor-to-wall junction never detailed
  • Cracked screed under a floor that was never flood-tested
How the job runs

From three photos to a finished job

  1. Strip and prepare

Tiles and old screed off to a sound base; the floor trap and pipe penetrations exposed and cleaned.

  2. Detail the weak points

The floor-to-wall junction and the floor trap reinforced before any membrane goes down.

  3. WB20 in two coats

Rolled on and turned up the walls to the data sheet height; RW1 in the new screed and the tile bed.

  4. Flood test, then tile

The floor holds water for 24 hours with no mark below before the tiler starts.

What to send

Three photos are enough for a first quotation

  1. The whole floor, from the door
  2. The floor trap and the shower wall
  3. The stain on the ceiling below, if any

What it costs

What does toilet waterproofing cost in Johor Bahru?

Per toilet, quoted after inspection. Five things decide it: the floor and wall area, lifting and relaying the tiles, the state of the screed, the floor trap and pipes to detail, and the new tiles. Removing and relaying the tiles is most of the bill; the membrane is the smaller part, which is why it should never be skipped. Rayson publishes no price list.

The Rayson difference

An installer buys whatever is on the shelf. A Rayson-authorised applicator installs what Rayson makes.

01

The maker writes the specification

The system is specified by the company that makes the material, and installed by an independent applicator Rayson has authorised, not chosen from whatever a supplier had on the shelf that week.

02

A data sheet for every layer

Every Rayson material on your floor or roof has a published technical data sheet. You can read what went in, and so can your consultant.

03

Two warranties, two companies

Rayson warrants the material as its maker. The authorised applicator, an independent company that contracts with you, warrants the workmanship. Each warranty is issued by the company responsible for it.

04

Same materials on both sides of the Causeway

The products, data sheets and application methods are the ones Rayson publishes in Singapore. Nothing is rebadged for Malaysia.

05

Materials direct, for your own crew

Contractors and facility teams buy the same materials direct from the maker, with application guidance. The applicator is there when you want the job done for you.
